Student Testimonial
As a Shanghai international school student with AP Calculus BC score of 5, I expected the TMUA to be manageable. One past paper shattered that assumption — Paper 2's logic questions inhabit a different universe from AP. AP tests whether you can apply formulas; TMUA tests whether you understand why those formulas hold. My diagnostic was 5.2 with Paper 2 at just 4.0.
After extensive online research I chose TMUA Elite's Logic Specialist course. Dr. Zhang's first lesson was stunning — she compared logical reasoning to detective work: evidence is given conditions, reasoning is the logical chain from evidence to conclusion, and error identification is finding gaps in the reasoning. This analogy transformed dry logic into something as captivating as a mystery novel.
After 12 hours of specialist training, my Paper 2 jumped from 4.0 to 6.5. I then joined the sprint course to learn Paper 1 strategies from Mr. Liu. His insight was memorable: 'TMUA Paper 1 doesn't test whether you can solve problems — it tests whether you can solve them in 2.5 minutes.' His 'speed solving' techniques reduced many multiple-choice problems from 5 minutes to 1.
My 7.9 secured an Imperial College Computer Science offer. Looking back, what Dr. Zhang taught me goes beyond exam technique — it's a way of thinking: rigorous, systematic, organised. This mindset is equally crucial in programming.
5.2 → 7.9, admitted to 帝国理工学院
