I've always loved programming and algorithms, but pure maths was honestly not my strength. I took the TMUA because Edinburgh's CS programme accepts it as proof of mathematical ability. The early days were painful — trig and calculus in Paper 1 felt like forgotten knowledge.

Ms. Wang in the foundation class was incredibly patient, explaining concepts three different ways until they clicked. She said something I'll never forget: 'The mark of understanding a concept isn't solving problems correctly — it's being able to explain it to someone else.'

After foundation I was much more confident and joined the mock exam course to improve speed. Its biggest contribution wasn't knowledge but exam strategy — Mr. Liu's 'easy first, mark and skip' approach kept me calm under time pressure. He also taught a practical technique: spend 10 seconds assessing each question's difficulty before deciding whether to attempt it immediately or skip.

From 4.0 to 7.0, this progress secured my Edinburgh CS offer. Now studying computer science here, the logic proofs in discrete maths feel effortless — entirely thanks to TMUA training!
